How Can I Best Prepare Myself for a Tattoo?
- The following are a few things you should know before your tattoo appointment to make sure your and the tattooist’s time is more enjoyable.
- Please do not consume alcoholic beverages or other blood thinning agents (Tylenol, Aspirin, energy drinks etc.) for 48 hours before your tattoo appointment.
- Try to eat something substantial in the 2 hours before your appointment time as it will give you more energy and make your experience more pleasant.
- It is a good idea to moisturize the area to be tattooed for up to two weeks beforehand if possible.
- you can gently exfoliate your skin the day prior to your appointment. be sure to not irritate your skin by over exfoliating. This will make the area much easier to tattoo and will produce a better-looking piece.
- It is a good idea to drink lots of apple juice the day before and the day of your tattoo appointment. Apple juice is a natural blood coagulant and will help you to bleed less.
- Any female who is pregnant or breastfeeding may not be tattooed.
- Please be on time for your appointment
- Staying still during your tattoo session is absolutely crucial, not only even slight movements effect the quality of linework, but also the overall amount of time the tattoo takes to complete. Its extremely distracting to the artists, and we become more concerned with keeping up with your movement, than completely focusing on delivering a good quality piece.
- if you are finding it very hard to sit still and getting body aches, it might be time for a break, just ask.
Do Tattoos Hurt?
- Yes, but certain areas of your body hurt more or less than others. Parts like your ribcage, center of the chest and feet should be avoided if you are extremely sensitive to pain.
How often do I need a touch up?
- If healed properly, black and grey tattoos don’t need often touchups, they should look good for many years. Although if your skin is exposed to direct sunlight a lot, it might change the appearance of your skin to where it might effect your tattoo in a major way. Same as some people age faster, some tattoos might age faster than on other people. occupations and life style have a lot to do with it as well.
- Color tattoos might need touch up more often, especially if you are frequent to sun exposure.
Can I bring a friend with me?
- i do not recommend bringing company. these are very long sessions that no one wants to sit for
- if they do wish to come they will have to wait in the front lobby due to regulations.
- Is there an age limit? Yes, 18. no parent consent allowed for minors to get tattooed.
Someone told me a different way to care for my tattoo, should I change what I’m doing to heal mine?
- Do so at your own risk, I highly recommend following all of my instructions when it comes to healing, especially using other types of ointment or lotion that I did not mention, which can significantly damage your tattoo as well as starting an infection.
- If you wore tight or rough clothing over your tattoos and it caused scabbing or premature peeling or even started an infection, I will not be responsible for the cost of restoring your tattoo, so please follow all the instructions carefully.
Is it ok to drink alcohol when I get my tattoo?
No. Avoid drinking at least for 24-48 hours before and after your tattoo. If you show up intoxicated you will be asked to leave, deposit forfeited. These are longer sessions and I take special care to give you the best experience possible as well as a quality tattoo, but we have to work together for the best outcome possible.
